Youth Engagement Worker

Salary - £32,430 - £34,794 FTE (£18,017 - £19,330 pro rata)| Based in Twickenham and Kingston | Permanent | 20 hours

About the role

We need a confident Youth Engagement Worker to work with young people to create and deliver participation activities and programmes that reflect the needs of the individual, group and wider voice of young people. To champion young people’s involvement in decision making (including design, evaluation, delivery, and commissioning of services) in line with good practice.


As Youth Engagement Worker for Achieving for Children, you will be responsible for

  • Delivering participation with young people to champion and promote their views.
  • Working effectively with stakeholders and young people within a political landscape.
  • Leading and planning youth work participation activities.
  • To support the collaboration and delivery of projects associated with the Children in Care Council Action Plan, Members of Youth Parliament plans and Youth Council.

About you

To be a Youth Engagement Worker for AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points

  • Recognised qualification in a relevant field minimum to level 3.
  • Experience of effective engagement with young people in particular with children looked after and leaving care and young people with SEN.
  • Experience of identifying young people’s needs and developing interventions with individuals and groups of young people.
  • Experienced delivering youth engagement programmes that have raised achievements and improved outcomes including vulnerable and at risk young people.
  • Experienced in group work facilitation.
  • Experience of achieving and promoting engagement projects and events successfully.
  • To provide fun and educational challenge, experiences and understanding about risk taking behaviours, the consequences and impact on the young person and others.
